Community-based organizations operate effectively below the spans of state and local government, at the lowest and most personal level between people - mostly at the level of neighborhoods and small communities. The members themselves typically manage the organizations.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY POLICY

The iThryv Community includes weProsper, LLC, iThryv, LLC, iThryv Professor and any other application or interface created by weProsper and iThryv.

Overview

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects the personal information of children under the age of 13. This applies to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, e-mail address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information—for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms—when they are tied to individually identifiable information. COPPA requires that we inform parents and legal guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose this personal information from children under 13 years of age; and that we obtain the consent of parents and guardians in order for the children under 13 years of age to use certain features of our websites.  Below, we explain how we do that.  When we use the term “kid”, “children” or “child”, we mean those who are under the age of 13.  When we use the term “parent”, “you” or “your”, we mean to include parents or legal guardians of the child.  It is important for you to understand COPPA; we encourage you to read more about The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

For more detailed information on COPPA, please visit: http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/privacyinitiatives/childrens_educ.html or follow the links to children’s privacy on the Federal Trade Commission’s main website: http://www.ftc.gov

Types of Information Collected

We cannot and do not require a child to provide more personally identifiable information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity, nor do we sell or transfer any personally identifiable information to third parties.

The iThryv Community is committed to providing a safe, secure, and fun online experience for children who visit our sites. We are dedicated to the safeguarding of any personal information collected online and to helping parents and children have positive experiences on the Internet.

There are two ways for children to register with the iThryv Community; (1) through weProsper (http://www.weProsper.org), (2) through iThryv Professor (http://itp.iThryv.com or http://itp.weProsper.org).  The iThryv Community also includes iThryv.com (http://www.iThryv.com), a general audience website. We collect both active and passive personally identifiable information in all types of registration with the iThryv Community.

Registering Children Through weProsper

During the initial registration through weProsper, the iThryv Community collects the following information from your child before we send out a parental consent request e-mail:

Your child’s first and last name and your email address.

After you have received the Parental Consent Request and agreed to allow your child to be a member of the iThryv Community, we will collect the following information about your child:

The child’s first and last name, date of birth, gender, member name and password, IP address (used to audit and protect accounts from security breaches), and your e-mail address.

Parents are required to register their child by following the instructions on the parental consent e-mail.

If, through date of birth information, a child younger than 13 years of age has attempted to register with the iThryv Community through weProsper, the parent will get an e-mail within 24 hours.  This e-mail will give the parent the option to continue registering the child or to deny it.  If you deny registration, you will be sent a confirmation e-mail that your child’s information has been deleted from our systems.  If you do not respond within 72 hours by following the steps in the parental consent request, or any follow-up requests, your child’s information will be deleted.

Registering Children Through iThryv Professor

In certain instances, your child will be registered in the iThryv Community by their school.  In such cases, we assume that the school has received prior consent from you to allow your child to use the Internet under the supervision of the school.  During registration, we notify all teachers that their school must have authorization from parents to register children and consent to the registration.  You are still allowed to review, prevent further collection of, and have deleted your child’s personal information.  Please see Involvement of Parents and Teachers below for instructions on how to do this.

During the initial registration of your child by their school through iThryv Professor, the iThryv Community collects the following information before we send out a parental consent request e-mail:

The child’s first and last name, date of birth, gender, student member name and password, e-mail address, teacher’s e-mail address, grade level and IP address (used to audit and protect accounts from security breaches).

This information comes from your child’s teacher.  Your teacher provides parental consent on your behalf after submission of the above information during registration.  Only your teacher is allowed to register your child through iThryv Professor.  No additional information is collected beyond that provided by the teacher at the point of registration.

If a teacher has registered a child younger than 13 years of age with the iThryv Community via iThryv Professor, the teacher will get an e-mail within 24 hours.  This e-mail will give the teacher the option to accept your child’s registration or to deny it on your behalf.  If the teacher denies registration, the teacher will be sent a confirmation e-mail that your child’s information has been deleted from our systems.  If the teacher does not respond within 72 hours by following the steps in the parental consent request, or any additional follow-up requests, your child’s information will be deleted.

Use of Personal Information

Note that all sites that are directed to children under 13 are prohibited by law from conditioning a kid’s participation in an online activity on the kid’s providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary.  The iThryv Community uses the information we collect from children only for internal support purposes.  We DO NOT share your child’s personal information with third parties.

IMPORTANT:  Please keep in mind that any personally identifiable information collected will be shared with all members of the iThryv Community.

We contact children by e-mail or online instant message in response to their requests for information or assistance. We will also send children e-mails in reference their account with us, our bulletin or message boards, blogs, direct and group chat programs, contests, sweepstakes, newsletters or to participate in other special activities.  These features may include one to one instant message chatting, sending e-mail, posting on message boards, and other similar activities.  The iThryv Community does not use any unsafe cookies or other harmful or malicious tracking software.  Please see our general Privacy Policy (same as above, please confirm link) for a more in-depth discussion of cookies.  Please note that if a child voluntarily discloses personal information, such as a name or e-mail address, on bulletin or message boards, blogs or in chat areas that are accessible to third parties, then such information could be collected and disclosed by those third parties. The iThryv Community cannot take any responsibility for such collection or disclosure.  We reserve the right to redact any personally identifiable information contained in any submissions by any person on a bulletin or message board, blog, or other chat area.

In addition, we may share a kid’s personal information with third parties to the extent reasonably necessary to protect the security of integrity of our sites; to take precautions against liability; to respond to judicial process; or to the extent permitted under provisions of law, to provide information to law enforcement agencies or for an investigation related to public safety.

Involvement of Parents and Teachers

Parents, or teachers in the case of iThryv Professor, receive an e-mail when a child has registered with the iThryv Community.  This e-mail gives the parent or teacher 72 hours to confirm or refuse the child’s registration.  If the parent or teacher refuses to allow the child’s registration or fails to respond at all within 72 hours, we delete the child’s information from our database.  The parent or teacher will receive a follow-up email stating that the child’s information has been deleted.  It is important for the parents and teachers to understand that once they allow a child to register for iThryv Community, that child will be able to enter future registration-based sweepstakes or contests without any further notification to the parent or teacher.  If a child wins a sweepstakes or contest, we notify the parent or teacher at the parent’s or teacher’s e-mail address provided to us during the registration process and request that the parent provide their postal address for purposes of delivering the prize.  We may publish a winner’s first name, first initial of last name, city, and state of residence on our websites.

We collect personal information from kids when they participate in activities such as one to one instant message chatting or in one of our private, member only chat rooms, blogs, or bulletin and message boards.  Before allowing a kid to use a feature of our website that might result in the public disclosure of the child’s information to third parties on the Internet, such as posting on open message boards viewable by the the public, we require a high level of verification to confirm that the parent has given permission for the child’s participation in such features.  For example, we may require a parent to provide us credit card information, speak to a trained telephone operator or return by postal mail or fax a signed consent form.

AT ANY TIME parents may review and have deleted their child's personal information, and may refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's information by calling 1-877-4-iThryv (877-448-4798) or by e-mailing info@weprosper.com.  When a parent revokes consent, we will stop collecting and using information from that child.  For security purposes, please provide the name of your child, the child’s member name and the e-mail address where you received the parental consent request to info@weprosper.com. This will help us better assist you.  If you are unsure about or do not have any of the information we need to process your request simply call us at 1-877-4-iThryv (877-448-4798) or e-mail us at info@weprosper.com so our customer support staff can assist you.

Once registered, your child will have the ability to change their password.  If you believe your child has changed their password and you would like to view their personal information, please call or email us through the above contacts and we will be happy to assist you.

Changes to This Policy

We may amend our Children’s Privacy Policy at any time.  We will provide parents notice by e-mail of any material changes in the way we intend to collect, use, and/or share children’s personal information.  Please note that, at all times, parents should update their personal information to provide us their current e-mail addresses.  We will apply material changes in our Children’s Privacy Policy only in conformance with applicable laws, including any applicable provisions of COPPA that require parental consent.
